When are Peaches in Season in Georgia

Georgia, also known as the Peach State, is full of fun activities. Try our homegrown Georgia peaches on your next vacation in the mountains with friends or family. North Georgia’s peach orchards are more than just a place to pick or buy peaches during peach season.

The top 5 peaches in North Georgia often offer a variety of other fruits, including apples (visit Mercier Orchards), fresh vegetables, jams, and preserves made from local honey, fried pies and scones, bread, chutneys, and pickled peaches. They also sell ciders and peach ice cream. Don’t be surprised to find a special event in the North Georgia peach orchards!

On your next Blue Ridge Vacation, you can stop by fruit farms to see what else is in season.

1. R & A Orchards 

R & A Orchards, in Ellijay, GA, has a rich history. The first peach trees were planted in 1947. There are also rolling vegetable and fruit fields, as well as a large kitchen in which delicious pies and treats are prepared from scratch.

You can take a guided tractor tour every weekend in September. There are 10 acres dedicated to peaches and nectarines. The Jalapeno Peach Jelly is our favorite peach at this North Georgia Orchard!

2. Lakemont

Hillside Orchard Farms, a family-owned and operated farm in Lakemont, GA, for over 30 years, is both a retail store and a farm. Hillside Orchard Farms in Lakemont, GA, is a farm and retail store that specializes in apples and blackberries. They also partner with local farmers to provide the best fruits, including peaches.

What else can you do on this farm in North Georgia with your family? You can feed the nanny goats, explore the gem mine indoors, eat fried apple pie, or take your kids to the playground. Fall is the perfect time to explore the corn maze and take a hayride, train, or a hayride. You can also attend the Fall Harvest Festival, which takes place on Halloween.

3. Alto

Jaemor Farms, Alto, GA: Everything is peachy! The North Georgia Peachy, founded in 1912, uses sustainable agriculture and produces juicy, high-quality peaches for YOU. This farm sells sweet strawberries, half-runner beans, and peaches.

Visit Jaemor Farms during the fall, and be sure to explore their 6-acre corn maze. You can schedule a homeschool field trip or take a farm tour. Jaemor offers gift boxes with fresh fruits, breakfast mix, peach cobbler, peach preserves, salsa, pickled or pickled peaches, as well as our favorite candy twists made from peach! While you’re there, don’t forget about pecans!

4. Panorama Orchards & Farm Market 

Panorama Orchards & Farm Market, located in Ellijay, GA, began selling apples grown on their own farm in the 1920s. They also grow the best North Georgia vegetables and peaches. There is also a bakery on site that makes delicious bread and sweets.

We recommend that you look through the window in the kitchen at Panorama Orchards to see the production of their fruitcakes, apple cider donuts, and seasonal pies. At the market, you’ll find candies, jarred products, and popcorn kernels.

5. Murrayville

Grandma started gardening at Sugar Hill Berry Farm, Murrayville, GA. This up-and-coming North Georgia peach farm expanded in 2013 with plans to become a U-pick farm.

Sugar Hill has a beautiful peach orchard and a vegetable garden. It also features 100s of blueberry plants, as well as a few acres dedicated to muscadines. They even harvest local honey and sell it!

Cancel U-pick Events for 2021

A sudden frost in early 2021 forced most North Georgia farms to cancel their U Pick events, where you could pick your own fruits and vegetables right off the vines, trees, or bushes.

You can still buy and enjoy North Georgia peaches this year. Call ahead to confirm the status of your favorite fruits and vegetables.

Bonus tip: You can also buy fresh local produce, including peaches in season, at the North Georgia Farmers Market held every week in Blue Ridge.
