Games have always been a part of the holiday season for my family.  We love to play them year round, but it’s particularly fun to play when we have a large group of family together.  Continuum Games kindly sent me Lumps: the Elf Coal Game, and Family Talk 2 to include in our Thanksgiving festivities this year. The Lumps Legend: Children around the world have been so good over the past few years; lumps of coal have built up at the North Pole. Puzzled by what to do with the excess coal; Santa’s elves decided to create an exciting new game that uses lumps of coal of all shapes and sizes. The game is so much fun, good little boys and girls, for the first time ever, are excited to get lumps of coal in their stocking!

I love dice games, and Lumps is a fun new one to add to my collection. The game consists of 8 black dice of different shapes and sizes, representing lumps of coal, that you roll a total of 3 times to make pairs. Each pair you make earns you points, example: a pair of 4′s earns you 4 points each additional 4 rolled would earn you an additional 4 points. There are also big bonus points if you roll 6,7, or 8 of a kind and 6,7, or 8 straights.  The first player to earn 100 points wins. My family gave this a test run before our big holiday feast.  It was fun, fast paced (we were through within 30 minutes),  and easy enough for my youngest yet still entertaining for us “grown-ups”.

We all hoped that we would throw the big bonus points, but it was rare my hubbie won with the points he landed on a 7 number straight!  At $7.99, Lumps would be a great stocking stuffer. The second edition of our award winning Family Talk game. Engage your family in meaningful conversations with this set of 100 new and exciting questions. Simply pick a card, ask the question and get a surprising and often hilarious glimpse into the hearts and minds of family members. Winner of the Tillywig Brain Child Award.

My family actually played Family Talk 2 in the car while traveling to a party at grandaddy and grammies house.  My daughters took turns asking questions from the deck of cards like “What motivates you to do well in school?” and “If you could change one rule at home, what would it be?”  Talk about a conversation starter!  I LOVED hearing their responses it was a glimpse into who they really are, and what they believe in.  I can’t wait to hear what our extended family answers when I bust this out after our holiday meal:)  I’m sure I’ll learn something I never knew about the people who are closest to me!  Family Talk 2 retails for $9.99; another great stocking stuffer.
