Nothing Like Candle Glow!

It has been trendy the last few years to use warmers as a way to fragrance the home.  Although they have many pluses, like not having an open flame to start fires, there is just something that draws me to good ol’ fashioned candles.  Perhaps its’s the soft romantic glow, or maybe it’s knowing that if the electricity goes out, I’ll only need my candles and a match to have light.  Candles are especially lovely to me around the holidays as the days get shorter and darkness dominates.  They create such a comforting ambience.  Aromas of apple, cinnamon, spiced pumpkin, peppermint and pine are infamously the popular choice to bring back cozy childhood memories.

Jar candles are probably some of the safer candle options.  I’ve been purchasing these varieties for a decade or two and love them because they last a long time and once blown out, can have their lid replaced to minimize sulfur smells.  Bridgewater Candle Company is a company I recently discovered that has splendid jar candles, as well as votives, wax wafers, sachets, vent clips and reed diffusers with scents you’ll fall for.  Bridgewater sent me HayrideBonfire, and Peace to indulge my senses this holiday season and I was very pleased with both the classic beauty of the jar, with its black finial lid, and the pleasant fragrances of the candles.

Bonfire:

“Burning cedar wood crackles and pops as glowing embers invite familiar faces togather around for a time of fellowship under the stars. Bursting with oriental, woody and earthy elements, Bonfire opens with sappy fir needles and amberrelinquishing into a heart of nutmeg sprinkles, spicy clove and patchouli.Smoldering cedar wood, guaiac wood and moss underpin the fragrance in anenticingly smoky blend.”  This, surprisingly, was my favorite scent.  It was wonderfully smoky; reminiscent of the bonfires my family held at our farmhouse when I was a teenager.

Hayride:

“Pile in an open air wagon lined with golden hay bales, and set off down a bumpydirt road colored with fiery autumn foliage and rows of plump pumpkins.Recalling memorable afternoons on the farm, Hayride bundles notes of crisp appleand pumpkin with spicy cinnamon, clove and creamy vanilla. Newly mown hay andpowdery-sweet tonka close the fragrance in classic autumnal brillance.”  An autumn classic……what else can I say??  Perfect to get the home ready for Thanksgiving.

Peace:

“Peace harmoniously layers fresh florals over the comforts of warm vanilla andsandalwood.”  My youngest daughter, who loves the smell of candles, set this by her bedside just to sniff…….I don’t know if I’ll get it back from her to actually light for the household to enjoy!  It has a sweet, clean fragrance.Don’t you just love those descriptions??  Bridgewater Candle Company passionately wants you to have an experience with their candles, not just smell something good, so they put effort into creating a quality product for us at an affordable pricepoint.  Better still, they make their candles right here in America, where local families benefit from jobs.  Their kindness doesn’t stop stateside as their generous charity work, in conjunction with Rice Bowls, feeds hungry mouths around the globe.  With each jar candle sale, they send a portion of the proceeds to orphanages in need of feeding children.  When purchasing from Bridgewater, you’ll receive the benefit of a well crafted, fragrant candle and the joy of participating in an act of kindness.  Well worth the $22  (18.5oz jar) or $14 (80z. jar)!
