5 Summer Getaways Every Kid Should Experience! GreatGetaways

Growing up in my family was fun, especially when it came to family vacations! My parents always took us on vacations every summer. I have a lot of memories from all the trips we took. I love looking back through my pictures and seeing all the fun places that we went and all the memories that they brought. I plan on doing a lot of fun family vacations as my kids grow up. I want them to have many happy memories of us together as a family.

5 Summer Getaways Every Kid Should Experience

1-Camping. Whether you live in the country or the city camping is one vacation that they entire family can enjoy and relatively inexpensive. Pitch the tent and roast hot dogs. In the evening sit by the camp fire and make S’mores all while singing songs. If you don’t live close enough to the woods, pitch the tent in your backyard and make it a camping experience. One your kids will never forget.

2-Waterparks. I love waterparks and certainly think any kid would love them too! When my children are old enough I will definitely take them on the slip and slides and into the roarin’ wave pools. A relatively inexpensive getaway if you have a park near you. Watch for 1/2 price family nights and coupons in your local newspaper and online. Sure to be some good ‘Wet’ fun!

3-Visit Historical Sites. There is nothing better than teaching your children while you are traveling. Pile in the car and head to your local historical sites and teach your children about where they live. If you can travel to places such as Mt. Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, and The Statue of Liberty. All the while you will be teaching them and they will never know.

4-Visit Family. I think family is the most important thing in life. We have family farther away and we make an effort to take our kids to see them. They get the opportunity to meet their great aunts and uncles, cousins, etc. Family is so important and a great family road trip too!

5-Disneyland! If you can afford it, I highly recommend it. I am waiting until my kids hit the 5+ age to take them. Growing up we went nearly every summer or spring break and we loved it. That’s what made me a disney fan! I love being able to go and just be a kid again and all the magic that the feeling of being there brings. I have so many memories of Disneyland and I plan to make my children grow up with these fond memories too. What are your vacation memories from your childhood? If you could tell us your top getaway that every kid should enjoy what would it be?
