Conquering Mt. Laundry {Sort-a-neat review with giveaway}

If you are like me, laundry is one of those things that gets pushed to the side…. and then pushed again, and then again. I have no problem actually washing it. It’s the folding and putting away of said mountain of clean clothes that gets pushed aside. I even tell myself that I will sit down (while my little peanut is napping) and indulge in one of my recoreded silly shows and fold. Half the time I sit down to watch and then don’t fold and put away anything! Sadly it’s not uncommon for us to go diving in the clean basket until it’s time to wash all over again… yeah… my goal is to wash AND fold as I go! Perhaps one day….

Well, I ran across something that just might be the solution, or at least a good helper in conquering the battle of clean clothes! The sort-a-neat is a sectioned laundry bag that fits pretty much any laundry basket and is sectioned so you can organize your clean clothes and keep them neatly folded! I can’t tell you how annoyed I get when the piles fall once they are in the basket and all my hard work is wasted! (Yeah.. I know… folding is a tough job but someone’s got to do it!) The sort-a-neat also has a great, roomy drawstring at the top so you can close the whole thing up once you’re done and carry it without the basket! You can pile your laundry high above the rim of your basket yet it all stays secure!  You can even carry a closed bag one handed up the stairs so you have another hand free for something else! Even better, a full bag holds it’s shape outside the basket when open for ease in putting your laundry away. This is great for people like me who have dirty laundry waiting to go back in the basket while there is clean laundry still needing to be put away!

A great idea is to have one for each of your kids, then fill their sort-a-neats with their clean clothes, then send them to their room with their bags on their shoulders and have them put their own laundry away. It is also a great idea for college kids! I can tell you, this may not solve the problem of actually getting the folding done, but definitely helps with the organizing and putting away. Green is Good! {Green Works Review}

Confessional #2: I don’t love to clean.  Don’t get me wrong, I still do it, I just don’t love doing it.  I am not one of those people who has an immaculate house.  I don’t spends hours upon hours a day cleaning.  My husband wishes I did, but with four kids, work, softball, football and dance classes I simply just don’t have the time, or the desire.  Therefore, anything I can do to make cleaning faster or easier, I am in!!  I hate to do things twice.  If I wash the clothes, (which I don’t because I have the best hubby in the world who does ALL of the laundry) but if I did, I would want them to come out clean the first time. 

Green Works not only make products that are incredibly powerful, but they are also safe.  If you’re expecting or have kids, you may not want all of the chemicals in your house.  “Clean with the Power of Mother Nature.  At Green Works®, we believe that cleaning products should be tough on dirt, grease and grime — not on your kids, pets or home.”  There is a short little video on their web site that has tips for keeping your home free of chemicals.

We received a few different products to try.  First, the cleaning wipes.  I am a strong believer that children should have chores.  My children rotate between cleaning 2 of our 3 bathrooms.  I have, in the past, had to do a lot of the cleaning and wiping for them because of the chemicals in the cleaners.  They were able to use these wipes and did a great job with them.

We also received a few laundry products including liquid laundry detergent, chlorine-free bleach, and oxi stain remover.  Like I said, my hubby does all of the laundry, so I asked him what he thought of these products.  He said, “Well, everything came out clean.”  Obviously, that is what you want when you do laundry, but it doesn’t always happen that way.  So when everything came out clean, no second wash needed, that is great!  Plus, it has such a wonderful clean scent.  The chlorine-free bleach is a perfect way to get those those tough stains out of whites and colors.  Yes, I said colors!  That makes this an accident free bleach!  The oxi stain remover is a new must have in our home.  My kids wear a uniform to school.  Part of that uniform is a white polo shirt.  I am sure the person who made this dress code doesn’t have kids, cuz if they did white would not have been their first choice.  Kids just can’t keep it clean.  Mine regularly come home with lunch dripped here or there.  With my lack of time, I make a quick paste of the oxi stain remover and water and slap it on the spots.  It then sits until laundry day rolls around and their dad finishes my job.  I was shocked when I saw a shirt that I was sure was doomed come out perfectly clean.  Amazing! 

These products are wonderful.  I wouldn’t have thought a “natural” product could stand up to the products that I have used in the past.  I am not sure why I thought all of the chemicals and dyes made them better, but they don’t.  Without them, they are safer.  With children, safe is what I need!

Keeping a clean house with two small children, two dogs, a husband & everything in between can be a tough, but necessary job. I have to admit, I still have not found the secret to keeping things spic and span round the clock, but do have a few tricks up my sleeve!

It does contain 88% organic ingredients, so I was pretty confident that he wouldn’t have any reaction, but still wanted to be careful. His skin showed no reactions, and we have been using the Baby Fresh Cleanser at every diaper change. We even made it through a bout of teething without diaper rash, which hasn’t happened before! I think we owe it all to Baby Fresh Cleanser, protecting that tiny hiney! Hollis actually asks for his “spray” at each diaper change. It is too cute! Be Your Own Professional House Cleaner {HomePro By Design Giveaway}

What I wouldn’t give to have a professional cleaner come to my house and give it a good shine.  I would even take it once a month!  Okay so, for me, that isn’t practical.  Unfortunately there aren’t too many cleaners that will do the trick like the professional’s cleaners.  They do an okay job but the house isn’t clean to its full potential.

General Purpose Cleaner–$16

I love this product.  I use it almost everyday!  The bottle seen on the right is the concentrate.  The bottle on the left is the one you use.  Pour a little bit of the concentrate into the spray bottle…the bottle is marked to make your cleaner anywhere from light to extreme clean.  I chose to go with almost extreme clean.  Once your concentrate is in, fill up the rest of the bottle with water and give a little shake.  TADA!  The best cleaner ever!  You can even use it in a mop bucket.  Just use 1/2 cup concentrate to 1 gallon of warm water.

Better yet…one bottle of concentrate will make up to 9 bottles of ready to use bottles!  That is a money saver if I have ever seen one!!

Glass Cleaner with Microfiber Cloth–$14

Just like the General Purpose Cleaner the Glass Cleaner uses a concentrate, making one bottle of concentrate turn into several bottles that are ready to use!  “HomePro Glass Cleaner uses “green” compliant ingredients to create the world’s best glass cleaner. The water used in the formula is cleaned, filtered, and purified to remove all the minerals that could cause streaking. The other cleaning ingredients evaporate quickly to leave just pure sparkling glass. You will notice the glass staying cleaner longer as there is nothing left to attract airborne pollutants that often cling to windows after using the leading brand of glass cleaner.”  By using the microfiber towel I could easily get little toothpaste splashes and finger prints off.  Also it didn’t leave any lint behind.

One problem I always have with glass cleaners is the surface look clean from straight on but from the side in just the right light you can see all the streaks and fogginess.  HomePro’s glass cleaner doesn’t do this at all.  Perfect the first time…like a professional!

Wood Floor Cleaner–$12.50

I don’t have any wood floors in my home so I passed this along to my BFF.  This is what she said, “I thought it made the floor clean and shiny.  It didn’t leave a residue.  It didn’t seem harsh, like some of the other cleaners I have used, yet I still felt like my floors got a good cleaning from it.  I also used it to clean my wood cabinets.  It left them shiny as well, but I preferred it for the floors.  The spray was very convenient, I could use more cleaner where I needed it, rather than using a mop bucket.  Overall I felt like it was a very good product, and I would recommend it to others with wood floors.  I will probably take it and give my mom’s wood floors a scrub!  She is always worried about using harsh products on her expensive flooring, but I think she would be comfortable using this.”

I have used this product on the carpet (thanks to my cute puppy) and on the couch (thanks to my self… fell asleep with a soda in hand…OOPS!)  It works like a charm.  It is a great little piece of magic for between carpet cleanings.  Apply, give a little scrub, blot, and magically the stain is gone!  LOVE IT!

I’m always looking for things to make my life easier in the kitchen. Bonus points for being eco-friendly, and bonus bonus points for being pleasing to the eyes. Full Circle sent me several of  their products to review, and they do all of the above.

The first thing I tried was the Scoop Sponge. Having to pick up a soggy sponge does not make me want to tackle the dishes. But the Scoop Sponge is curved so that air circulates below it. So if you do leave it on the countertop, there won’t be cooties having a party underneath it. Plus it’s really cool to look at, like a modern piece of architecture next to my sink. In addition, it’s made of biodegradable cellulose. Ever wonder what happens to your typical petroleum-based plastic sponge? Nothing. Except sit in a landfill. Forever.

And I can’t say enough great things about the Reach Bottle Brush. Well I will say this: Where were you when my girls were babies and I was pumping straight into bottles and handwashed everything? Oh how much time the Reach Bottle Brush would have saved me! It cleans both the inside and outside of the brush at the same time, plus the handle (made of recycled plastic and recycled stainless steel) is so comfortable. It fits around my sink and is such a cheerful orange color.

This one is both convenient and fun: The Stick ‘Em Magnetic Kitchen Towel. There’s a little magnet (made from recycled materials) built into this soft and absorbent towel (made from bamboo and organic cotton) so you can hang it on your fridge or dishwasher. It’s right there when you need it and when you’re done you can literally toss it back and it sticks! No more hanging towels off your oven door only to have them slide off again and again.

ring_closeupring_appleThe Ring Vegetable Brush is something I never thought of using but I’m glad I have it now. My girls are starting to eat more fruits and veggies with the skin on (or at least I’m offering it to them), so I feel better scrubbing the skins with a brush. And it’s so cute too…makes me want to wear a bamboo bracelet to match while I cook!

No More Soppy Mops! {Spin and Go Touchless Mop and Wringer System Giveaway} CLOSED
