I have to admit I am somewhat of an amateur when it comes to doing my hair. I have spent WAY too much time on Pinterest lately looking at awesome ways to style my hair…. if you are on there, you KNOW what I’m talking about! :-) I have pretty long hair that is somewhat naturally curly… Translation: My hair is kind of a frizzy mess if I don’t use some kind of heat on it! I have been flat ironing my hair for a LONG time! I don’t iron it completely straight very often, but I use it every day to smooth the top and especially my bangs! I was super impressed with this iron from the first time I tried it. I even did a full flat style to check it out too! It took me about half the time it usually takes me to straighten my hair! This iron is SERIOUS!!! It gets super hot for unruly hair like mine, but can be turned down for super fine hair. I’ve never seen a straightener that is heat adjustable! I also LOVE that it has the auto-sleep! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone into the bathroom to find I’ve left the flat iron on…. problem solved!! I also love how quickly it heats up! No more waiting if I forget to plug it in until the last minute! I also really love that it has ceramic and ionic technology built into it, so it’s “healthier” on my hair!

Something that I’ve also been experimenting with this iron is creating waves! This iron is a great option for this because it is slim, only 1″, and it has floating plates that allow the iron to rotate slightly. I have tried it a couple times, and while I’ve had some good results, I still haven’t mastered it enough to share a photo… otherwise I totally would! ;-) However, this is what you can achieve with this flat iron.

Hint: I found some great tutorials for flat iron curls on Pinterest, and I’m sure you could also find some on YouTube as well! You won’t be disappointed with this iron. It is so versatile! Everyday Storage Solutions! {Scout Review}

I was instantly smitten when I stumbled upon the SCOUT website! With Spring Cleaning in full swing around our house, I was thrilled to receive a Bungalow Junque Trunk from SCOUT! The Junque Trunk is a water resistant, collapsible storage bin with handles on the sides perfect for almost anything! It is available in several different color schemes and patterns; we decided on the Ombre Charles pattern. Brightly colored stripes are perfect for Ava’s room, where I knew it was going to be placed. Ava has more stuffed animals than we can count and even after sifting through them and donating a bag full, we still needed more storage. They are her favorite toys and she plays with them constantly so putting them away is not an option. The Bungalow Junque Trunk is perfect. It is a great size, holding lots of her stuffed animals. I love that there is no lid and she can put things in and out no problem by herself! The Bungalow Junque Trunk has been a fabulous addition to Ava’s room, offering a great storage solution to what I know is a common problem in many homes!

Gettin’ Cheeky {Candi Cheeks review & giveaway}

 

One of the extra perks about having a baby is getting to play dress up! Now, I have a boy, so my options are a little limited.  I haven’t experienced all the sparkles, flower bows, tutus, leggings, and dresses yet, but I still have fun dressing my little guy. Get a Fresh, New Perspective {Fresh Produce clothing review}

 

There are some things in a girls wardrobe that can be used for so many occasions. Dressy, like for church or a program or such. Dressed down for a casual lunch with friends or shopping. Lazy summer days that offer “natural air conditioning.” :-) You guessed it… skirts! I have been wanting to update my skirt wardrobe for a while, and so when I was generously given the chance to try something from  Fresh Produce, I was so excited!!! I had a hard time deciding on what to get. I looked at so many things, like these fun skirts. I also really liked these women’s skorts. There was so much to choose from when I saw these vacation clothes, because come on… who can’t use more great clothes for going away?? :-) Finally I decided I really wanted to go with this skirt!

I love love love this skirt!! I got it in a vanilla color, so it will easily take me from spring to summer to back to fall! I especially love that it is raised in the front, which is right on trend with skirt hems this season… So fun! It also has some really great detailing with the seams that finish off the look, whether you are dressing it up with heels, or going casual with sandals. I have so many ideas, I can hardly wait for the weather to get warm. It has been so nasty cold here lately, I’ve only had one chance to wear it. I opted to go more bundled up with boots and a sweater, but I still loved how it looked! (This picture was taken while the Toddler was having a MAJOR meltdown, so please excuse the lack of detail… I was lucky to even get the Hubbs to take this at all! :-) )

 

I really love how it looked with the boot… kind of gave it a Western feel. It is super soft and so comfy too. Definitely something I could kick around in all afternoon. This skirt has endless possibilities. If you need something dressy for a nicer event, this would work great too!

Perfect Clothing for Every Body! {Yummie Tummie Review & Giveaway}

I have been on a major de-clutter rampage since the New Year. Let me tell you, I actually found a pair of jeans in my closet from high school…old, tattered, and way too small. Doing all this cleaning and sorting made me realize just how desperately I need to work on my wardrobe; collecting beautiful, age appropriate pieces that can be worn for many occasions. I felt immensely lucky to be able to choose a piece from the Yummie Tummie line. I really had a hard time choosing my favorite, as everything is so wonderful, but as soon as I saw the Mid Rise Skinny Leg jeans in grey, I knew they were meant for me! They also have a perfect rise in front and back with ingenious stitching that lifts {& lord knows I need a little lift!}. I am a tall woman, 5 foot 10ish, so you don’t even know the excitement I felt when I saw the inseam was 33″. I find most jeans are 32″ and they always end up being a tad too short for my taste, especially after washing! So simple to tailor a pair of jeans if you are shorter, but almost impossible to make them longer. So, thank you Yummie Tummie for thinking of us tall girls! I am currently between sizes and ordered the smaller of the two, hoping to be there shortly. My jeans arrived and as I expected were a bit snug, so I really feel that the sizing is spot on. When I tried them on I immediately noticed the soft feel of the denim, and nice stretch in the jeans. Even a bit snug, they are comfortable and have quickly become a favorite staple in my wardrobe! I am looking forward to adding a a few more pieces from Yummie Tummie to my wardrobe. Yummie Tummie clothing is a bit on the pricey side, but as I get older I don’t mind paying a bit more for high quality clothing that is going to last and make me look and feel amazing! Next on my list…saving my pennies for the Lo Scoop Neck Dress!!

Hollis is in desperate need of a some winter clothing. It seems he has had a major growth spurt recently and shirts are showing his tummy and pants are a bit too short! I was thrilled to have the opportunity to choose a long sleeved t-shirt from Me Giant for my boy! He is a dinosaur lover, so I knew instantly to get him the Ribbit Ribbit says the Dinosaur Kids T-Shirt. It arrived sweetly packaged in the signature Chirp Daddy Lunchbox, which adds such a fun touch to this delivery! Hollis immediately wanted his new dinosaur shirt on and has worn it so many times since it arrived! He has put his Chirp Daddy Lunchbox to good use as well, as he uses it to carry around his most prized collection; his cars! The Ribbit Ribbit says the Dinosaur Kids T-Shirt is super soft and has washed very well. I would love to add a few more of these cute and funny t’s to both of my kiddos wardrobes; with both short and long sleeve options, they are perfect for all seasons! Me Giant T-shirts definitely make for a cute top and Hollis’ Ribbit Ribbit says the Dinosaur shirt gets some fun reactions when we are out running around! He has received several compliments on his new shirt and he is oh-so proud!
