Ballet Flats {Stuart Weitzman Review}

Spring weather has arrived.  Actually, in my part of the country we’ve already seen a few summer-like days! :)  As the temperatures have warmed, I’ve reorganized my daughter’s closets, putting away the jeans and sweaters used for cooler days and pulling out the cute skirts, breezy tops, and dresses my daughters love to wear throughout the summertime.  We are also clearing out old boots and tennis shoes (which will surely be too small by the time they’re needed again!), making way for sandals and comfortable warm weather footwear, like those offered by Stuart Weitzman.  An adorable dress requires adorable shoes…..and the Stuart Weitzman’s Chippy Ballet Flat is adorable!

My youngest daughter becomes a flip flop queen during this season.  Bless her heart, she has an awkward shaped foot that is quite wide near the toes and angles down to a narrow heal, making it difficult to find a pair of shoes that fits just right.  I’ve been leery about ordering shoes online for her because she can’t try them on.  Even purchasing from a local department store can be a disaster……do you have a child who loves the shoe in the store, then when they get home and wear them for the first time, they complain and never want to wear them again?!!   That has happened to me on a few occasions……I have felt sick over the money wasted.  Unfortunately, when we received our ballet flats, the same sizing problem happened.  I was so disappointed the Chippy Flats didn’t fit, because they are precious! Their sleek shimmery white body (also available in blush pink) is elasticized at the top to make for easy on and off.  Little details like the metallic toe and front bow make them so girly and cute.  They do seem to be made for a narrower foot…..if only they came in wide width :)

Fortunately, I have a dear friend with daughters the same ages as mine, and I gave them to her for her youngest to try.  They fit her daughter perfectly!  Yeah!!  Little Miss M. said they were super comfy and she would be wearing them to church on Sunday!  Cute ballet flats are Real Mom(s) Recommended!!

Splish Splashin’ in Rainy Day Puddles! {BOGS Boots Review}

Rain Rain Go Away!  That’s what most of us are thinking and saying, while my son is thinking the opposite.  He is happily splashing around in rain puddles in his new BOGS boots!

We were asked if we would like to review a pair of boots from BOGS and my answer way YES!  My son loves boots. He currently was still wearing his buzz lightyear snow boots to play in the rain.  His feet were always soaked when he came in.  When our new BOGS boots arrived we were both very excited.  These boots are fabulous for kids. The first feature that this mom loves is the easy pull on handles. He can throw them on in no time at all and with no help from mom.  They feature a very solid sole and the gripping on them is awesome. No slipping in these boots and no wet soggy socks.  Waterproof at it’s finest.  The rubber is very durable and these boots are sure to last until he out grows them.  He loves them and would wear them everyday and everywhere if I would let him. :0)

Dirty Sneakers…..Clean them! {Reshoevn8r Review}

I love the clean and bright look of a brand new pair of athletic shoes.  The love affair ends however, once they have been run through the mud or grass stained.  Now dingy and dirty, they’re almost embarrassing to wear!   My husband is particularly rough on his sneakers, which requires me to either keep them clean, or let him continually purchase new pairs.  Since my choice is to keep them clean and save money, I have to wash them.  In the past I’ve just tossed them in the washing machine with warm water and some detergent, offering okay results, but now I’ll be using the Reshoevn8r.  What is a Reshoevn8r you ask?  Well, its a system that was created with the purpose of keeping your sneakers looking their best.  It includes a scrub brush, an eco-friendly sneaker cleaning solution, shoe trees and mesh bag.  My favorite part of the system is definitely the shoe trees that can be put in the wash!  They are just what I needed to keep the shape of my hubbies shoes while being tossed in the washer and then air dried.

Here is how the Reshoevn8r system works:

Step 1: Insert adjustable shoe tree’s

Insert the shoe tree into the shoe as shown below.

Step 2: Pre-treat

Gently scrub heavily soiled areas with Reshoevn8r Advanced Sneaker Cleaning Solution and brush.

Step 3: Reshoevn8r bag

Insert shoe’s  into Reshoevn8r bag as shown. Make sure soles are together.

Step 4: Cinch bag

Tighten cords at top and middle of bag.  Machine was COLD water ONLY.

Wash COLD water only!!!

Tricky Tying. {Loopers Laces Review}

Shoe tying can sometimes be a difficult and frustrating skill for children to learn as well as for parents to teach. I remember my big brother struggling for so long when we were growing up trying to learn how to tie his shoes. He eventually got out of his favorite Velcro kicks and moved on to laces, but it took him a while. I wish we would have had access to Loopers Laces back when we were young; I know they would have helped him {and my mom} so much.

When I was sent a set of Loopers Laces, I instantly thought of a good friend of mine whose son is struggling with learning how to tie his shoes. He gets each bow made and then has a difficult time keeping them tight and together to make the final bow. I made sure to pass these along to her and immediately, they got to work with the Loopers Laces! Her son thought the little shoes were pretty cool and she was amazed with the immediate progress he made. They followed the 6 steps and after a few tries he was able to tie the laces in a solid bow. The Velcro pads on the laces definitely helped him keep the bows in tact while he completed the remaining steps! He was so excited and she said he lit up the first time he made a bow. He wanted to keep untying and tying the laces over and over again. His ability to complete a bow gave him confidence and as he gets more efficient, she will get him going on the regular shoe laces. The Loopers Laces made this learning experience fun again for him, and he will be tying his own shoe laces in no time! I was going to wait a while to try and teach Ava, as she is only 4, but I think she might be able to get it with the help of the Loopers Laces! The Loopers Laces can be a great tool in helping teach your children this necessary and challenging skill!

Stand Up Straight {Booty Shapers Review}

Now is the time when we have switched out our wardrobes.  We have put the fall and winter things away and have out the spring and summer.  Same for shoes.  Boots are put away and sandals are out and ready to be worn.

I don’t know about you but I don’t have a whole separate closet for storage space.  So I have to make due with the space I have.  This also limits my shoe storage space.  My boots end up crumpled at the bottom of my closet.  Then when I pull them out to wear them in the fall or winter, they have a crease in them or have been smashed and are out of shape.  It seems like it takes all season long to reshape them and then at that they are never the same.

Miriam McKay, during one of her global shopping pilgrimages, recognized this booty creasing issue and found a solution.  She replaced wadded up newspaper or a piece of cardboard.  Booty Shapers was born!  “Booty Shapers are a simple and attractive way to protect boots all year round. I ordered them a size up in hopes that they will be perfect for fall when Ava starts pre-school. Of course, we had to try them on upon arrival and believe me, the little one approves! In fact, she wore them around the house most of the afternoon and I finally got them off of her at bath time. Umi’s Arabella shoes are made of soft micro suede and accentuated with smooth lines and gorgeous hues. They also have a simple hook and look closure, so Ava will be able to get them on and off independently at school. You know, until she learns how to  tie a bow! The insides feel so soft and seem to have just the right amount of cushion. I know they are going to be such a comfortable shoe for her. I can’t wait for Ava to wear these great kicks to her first day of Pre-school in the fall. They are the perfect shoe. She will be able to wear them with dresses, jeans, even sweats and they will look absolutely fab! The Arabella is available in three fabulous color combos.
