Playing it Safe {BikeGlow Review}

Do you remember the freedom you felt as a kid when you were allowed to have a “late night” outside? Remember night games like kick the can and ghost in the grave yard? I loved catching lightening bugs, too. But here is new fantastic activity for your kids to do at night, and be safe while doing it!

Meet BikeGlow! This is an genius invention that is fun, convenient, and safe! “The BikeGlow™ Safety Light provides 360 degree biking visibility. Running on 2-AA batteries, the BikeGlow™ frame light is a 10′ waterproof light tube that securely attaches to your bike’s frame. It features three lighting modes: Steady, Slow Flash, Fast Flash. So whether cars are behind you, in front of you, or coming from the side, you remain highly visible and much safer!”

This couldn’t have come at a better time. Our mail was being delivered right as we were pulling away for a week long camping trip. Low and behold, there was the BikeGlow waiting in the box for 4 anxious children to fight over it! When I opened it, I was impressed that this simple little thing had so many conveniences, they really thought this one through! Look at the pic and I will tell you what it is…the box at the top holds 2 AA batteries and is waterproof! There is a special velcro piece that comes with it to attach it to the bike frame. Then there is that light tube, itself. it is 10 feet long and pretty skinny. I honestly thought it would be a dull glow, but it is much brighter than I expected it would be! You wrap the light tube around the frame of the bike and attach it with the included ties. Next, you can chose from the light always on, slow flashing, or a fast flash. It has an easy on and off button located on the back of the battery pack. My kids couldn’t wait for it to get dark enough to turn on the lights, they all think they need on now, too! Hailee wants Pink, April wants Purple, Austin wants Red, and little Mia “lubs” the Aqua. (they come in Red, Green, Blue, Aqua, Pink, Purple, Yellow, White) I was pretty thrilled with the yellow we got. It is so easy to see the bike and rider from quite a distance away. We used it to have fun and make the bike look cool, but in all actuality, they are a great safety feature! I hate pulling up on biker at night in the car and not seeing them til you are right on their tail. Help your little bikers be safe with BikeGLow!

Never To Early To Start {Hop-N-Healthy Review}

Hop-N-Healthy is a program designed to provide structured activities to keep your children active rather than turning into a couch potato. Their services are located in daycares and preschools all over Dutchess County.

This program teaches children healthy eating and exercise habits. In today’s world these are two of the toughest habits to make….but think how much easier they would be to have it we all had started at an early age.

In a 30-40 minute age-appropriate P.E. class trained instructors will teach non-stop movement, singing, and dancing with colorful equipment and fun kid-friendly music. Kids will use a variety of equipment including hoops, balls, soccer balls, basketballs, golf, bean bags, balloons, rhythm sticks, and parachutes. Wish there were classes like that for adults! These classes will build balance, coordination, motor skills, and physical and social skills. Kids, be sure to wear your sneakers because you are going to get funky!!

How awesome does this program sound!? I think it is so important to help our kids stay healthy and to teach them the importance of a healthy and happy body. Too many kids just sit at home and watch cartoons or play video games. Too many children are eating fast food and too many desserts. It is time to bring back the days where kids play all day, where kids wanted to be physically active all day long, and where kids snacked on fruits and veggies.

A Tearfree Scale {EatSmart Precision Digital Kitchen Scale Giveaway}

One thing I hate is scales! Every time I step on one I end up wishing I hadn’t. Wouldn’t it be great to find a scale that doesn’t make you cry?! Well…we have!

That only worked for paper plates and plastic containers–even at that it took forever to do. There was no way I could put the food on the plate and weigh it.

With EatSmart Precision Digital Kitchen Scale all my kitchen scale dreams have come true. The abouts are gone! It has a digital LCD screen that tells me exactly how much food there is. Looking Good, Feeling Comfy, Getting Toned! {Crocs Tone Review}

I got to try a pair of crocs tone Skylar slingback flats in the watermelon/oyster color. I am probably the only person on earth who has never tried crocs before…I had heard they are comfortable but my feet are weird so who knows?! But when I tried on my flats, it was like there was nothing on my feet! Nothing scratching or chafing, and the bumpy insole was nice and not too bumpy. And usually I am not able to wear slingbacks because the back of my feet are narrower than the front. But the strap stays on and I’m able to walk for quite a while.

So that’s the comfy part…how about the toning? In addition to having weird-shaped feet, I also have weak arches. The sculpted outsole (think of an upside-down hill on the bottom of your feet) forces me to keep my feet from flopping outward. And when my feet and ankles are straight…whoa! I instantly felt the muscles along the inside as well as outside of my legs start to burn. I’m not saying that my legs now look like a supermodel’s but I do feel like I’m getting a workout, plus it’s really helped my posture as I’m more aware of how I’m walking.

What I also like about crocs tone is that you can’t tell they are toning shoes! I’ve seen other toning shoes and the soles are huge and obvious. My crocs tone flats are very sleek and look like regular shoes. And I love the watermelon color! If you don’t believe me, ask my girls…whenever I put on my crocs tone flats, my girls say “Mama, your shoes are pretty!” There are other cute colors to choose from as well:

For Your Prima Ballerina! {Prima Princessa Book Review}

PrimaPrincessaBook Prima Princessa’s Ballet for Beginners: Featuring the School of American Ballet by Mary Kate Mellow and Stephanie Troeller and is a lovely book to introduce your children to ballet basics.

My girls love dancing and twirling around, and as a former dancer myself, it warms my heart! They are just 3 years old, but they already love this book. Prima Princessa is a cartoon character who floats alongside the actual ballerina, and she really caught their attention. So for now they’re just ooohhh-ing and ahhhh-ing over the pretty pictures, but this book will definitely be useful as they get older and if they wish, start taking classes. From basic positions to more advanced moves, all are demonstrated very clearly by dancers from The School of American Ballet (the offical school of The New York City Ballet). Younger students as well as older ones are pictured so that all ages can relate.

This book also covers many facets of ballet class at all levels, such as creative movement, ballet class etiquette (very important…I got in trouble for wearing my big Swatch watch during class!), and what happens in advanced ballet class. Even the pas de deux is described, which my girls called “Mama Dada ballet.”

It was a great refresher for me too, as I haven’t taken a class in years. Now all of the arm, leg and foot positions are coming back to me. And if you’ve never taken a class before, this would serve as a great introduction to you too. You could help with practice at home, or when your little dancer tells you about class that day, you’ll know what he or she is talking about!

Protect Your Assets {Kalyx Giveaway} CLOSED

I love, love, love working out! I love getting sweaty, feeling energetic, and feeling like I just accomplished something great. I even love wearing workout clothes. They are comfortable…all except those dang sports bras. They smash your chest into one flat loaf looking mass. Then, they don’t give much support! Kalyx sent me the “Extremist” sports bra. The first two things that came out of my mouth was, “OOO! Look at this color! OOOO! I couldn’t wait to get the Micro Modal Dancer Cami from be present. It is one of their top selling items and when it came in the mail and I pulled it out of the package, I could totally see why! I am seriously having to restrain myself from hopping online and ordering one if every.single.color.available! I was ready to put it one and do some yoga! I am not sure why, but I’m always more motivated to work out if I have something cute to wear. I guess it makes me feel good if I feel cute. Whatever works, right?! The cami is so, so soft, fits like a dream, and I love the little center-front gathering, giving it that little extra touch of style! The fabric used is made from beech wood extraction, from farms that practice sustainability, it’s one of the most eco-friendly fabrics available! This cami is high quality and made to withstand wear from working out, going out, & lounging around! The body is seamless and it has a built in shelf bra, which is nice because it gives you a chafe free fit! {nobody likes chafing! ouch!} I love that this top {along with so many other be present yoga wear} can be worn to work out, go to the store, sleep, whatever! Their style is so versatile and pretty much perfect for doing anything!

I love all the yoga tops, but check out these pants! Don’t they just look super comfy? I will be ordering some of these french terry resort pants in the near future!

Before having my children I was so health conscious. I was at the gym 6 days a week strength training, doing cardio, yoga, & whatever else I could do to burn some calories and keep my girlish figure! This time was what I looked forward to and made sure I carved out for myself during a busy day. Then I got pregnant and had my first child, time became less and time for myself became somewhat non-existent. Then came baby number two and what little time I did have became even less. So you know that tight little tummy I had became a spare tire and all that strength I worked so hard for has become so depleted. Well, it’s a new year and I am determined to get that passion for fitness back again. I want that girl back…the one that felt so good,so strong, and made the time to take care of herself. I feel that Mandy Ingber’s Yogalosophy DVD will be a major component in making this happen!

After my 1st Workout:

Okay, so I just finished my first workout with Mandy! I am feeling so inspired by her! The workout was awesome, I love how she has combined yoga poses with toning exercises! It was definitely a challenge, but she really is a great teacher and I didn’t feel bad if I had to rest or stretch during certain exercises…she didn’t make me feel like it was wrong or I was slacking. One thing she said really has stuck with me: “Try to be easy on yourself. I never got in shape any faster by being hard on myself.” I love this and it is so true. So many times I have beat myself up when trying to get started exercising again because I couldn’t keep up with the class or had to stop more than someone else, and have been left feeling defeated and not wanting to go back. Thank you Mandy for creating such a fabulous workout that is perfect for all fitness levels. I can’t wait to explore the DVD extras more…thinking of doing the Sun Salute Series tomorrow to start my day. I am really feeling positive that this workout along with cardio a few times a week will really help me reach my fitness goals! Yay!

After my 7th workout:

Wow! I am still loving all of the workouts on Mandy’s DVD! I especially like doing the workout with coach! I love listening to Mandy talk and share some fitness information and her own personal tips. She is just so inspirational and the workout is excellent! I can already feel myself getting stronger and am so excited about that. I have also spent some time exploring the extras on the DVD and they are all wonderful as well! The Yogalosophy DVD is just packed full of so many different workouts and extras, it really is a steal of a deal!
