10 Reasons I Love Being A Mom {Magisto Mobile App #Review}

There are so  many reasons I love being a mom.  Before my son was born I never imagined motherhood as being as wonderful as it is.  Like everything, it has it moments, but the other 99.9% of the time it is the best blessing I could ask for.  My little man is growing up so fast.  He is almost 1 year old!  Man, the time flies!  I am really happy that I have documented his first year with tons of videos and photos.  With the help of Magisto, a FREE mobile app, I am able to make unique videos to mash up his first year.  “I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Magisto. Magisto is a free app for your Android or iPhone.  You can even use it on the web!!!  Magisto is a video editor like no other.  It automatically selects the most compelling moments from your videos and weaves them together to convey a story.  You can even customize it with styles and music!

It is really simple to use although it can take a little time.  I was able to quickly download the app and get to work.  I chose 10 videos that show some really fun and special moments of my son growing up…times that remind me why I love being a mom.  After watching a few short demos I picked the style of video I wanted.  I was given the chance to pick a song from their selections but I chose to go with one I had in my phone’s music library.  Then I chose how long I wanted it to be.  (I went for 1 min and 10 seconds…a nice to the point movie.)  It took approximately 55 minutes for the app to prepare my video.  That seems like a long time but maybe it is because I chose 10 videos???

Here is was Magisto drummed up for me based on all of my selections.

I share pictures and movies a lot!  Both on RMRVs and my personal blog.  Until now I have always used YouTube or PicMonkey to create my video or photo compilations.  I like that with Magisto I can just select what I want to use and they do all the work.  No more fiddling with the editing to get it just right.  I like that they had a lot of different styles to chose from so you can find just the right thing for your project.  Once the movie is made it can be downloaded!  Depending on the video quality it could cost between $.99-$2.99.

There were a few problems that I encountered though.  On both my phone and on the web the app didn’t seem to recognize all my photos.  A lot of my photos actually.  I wanted to make a little video of his monthly pictures and a video or two but none of pictures were recognized on my computer.  Boo!  I also wish that I didn’t have to choose a style….what if I just want to focus on the pictures and videos?  This app isn’t for just a short video with a few pictures.  They recommend you have at least 45 seconds of material.

An Extra Little Something {Modern Switch #Review and #Giveaway}

Putting together my son’s nursery was one of the most difficult things I did while preparing for him to arrive.  I knew what I wanted but had a hard time finding it.  I thought about just hiring someone to make what I was looking for but custom can be costly.  After hitting EVERY store I could think of I finally found what I wanted.  There was still one thing missing though.  I couldn’t put my finger on it what it was until I found Modern Switch.  Keep on reading to see what they sent me!

Kiss Me, I’m Irish!!

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner!  In the past I haven’t gotten into decorating for St. Patty’s day, but this year I made a cute block and vinyl display and printed off some subway art to get us in the mood for “Luck Day.” While I was going over phrases to put on my blocks, my mind started wandering a bit. Va- Va- Voom Valentine! {EdenFantasys #REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY}

 

 

Love Day is right around the corner! I love Valentine’s Day! Maybe because all the pink and red is a GREAT way to break up the dreariness of the Winter Blahs…. or maybe it’s because I get a chance to plan something special for me and Hubby… and he never complains when I splurge on something “fun” for the two of us! :-) We have pretty much given up on trying to go out for actual Valentine’s day. Between fighting the crowds at the restaurants and then on top of that trying to find a sitter for Peanut on a week night, we usually just stay in and then try to go out later. This year I’m kicking around the idea of doing a fondue date for us. I’ve found a couple of great fondue recipes I’m dying to try and how romantic is that?! It’s not something I’ve ever done before, so this would be really fun! And no great date on V-Day is complete without some serious snuggling and play time after the kiddos are tucked in. I know as Moms we tend to get so busy taking care of kids and keeping things running smoothly around that house that before you know it, time with Hubby is LONG over due!! I’m sure I’m not alone out there! And for me, Valentine’s is the perfect time to make it a priority to reconnect and have some fun with my man! This year I want to spice things up in a different way! Instead of the ‘ol routine we always do, I’m thinking a little more appetizer before entree…. if you know what I mean… ;-) My friends at EdenFantasys are the experts at helping a girl in that department, and I’ve been eyeing a couple new things to add to my “toy box.” How about a blindfold and feathers to get things heated up? Ah… a walk through the park, pushing Peanut in his stroller… I yearn for the time when it is warm enough to do just that. Although right now we are stuck in a sub-zero Arctic like freeze, the likes of which is very uncommon to my neck of the woods… It reminds me of where I grew up… where we get “real snow!” :-) Hopefully the barometric pressure will change and we can start thawing out soon! Save Money This Christmas

I love shopping for others at Christmas time.  It is fun for me to pick out just the right present for my family and friends.  I really enjoy giving something special and seeing their eyes light up.  The saying is true…it is better to give than receive….unless it is chocolate ;)

As I get older more and more of my loved ones are out of package delivering range and I have to mail their gift to them.  This means I don’t get to see their excitement, but I know that when a gift arrives on time or even before when it is supposed to be there their eyes will surely light up.  Here are a few of my tips for shipping gifts during the holidays:

*Don’t wrap the outside of your package.  I like to make mine look like a normal ho-hum package.  Not only will it make for a bigger surprise to the recipient but if it is left on the porch it won’t entice people to grab it and take off.  If it looks like something really special your present may not make it into your loved one’s hands.

*When you go to the post office, use the kiosks.  They are the same as going to the person but the line is always shorter.  And if your post office is anything like mine, even if the line is long, the workers are always slower than those using the kiosks.

*If you do need to talk with a post office worker go on the off-peak hours.  Stay away from first thing in the morning, lunch time, or 5:00 to close….these are the busiest times because people are stopping in on their way to or from work.

*Plan to ship your package early.  Not only will they arrive on time but you won’t have to rush your package….this saves you money.

*When you box up your packages try to use packing like bubble wrap, those little air bags, or packing peanuts.  This will make your packages lighter than if you were to use newspaper.  Again, this saves you money on shipping.

*This year packages need to be shipped by December 17th in order to arrive in time for Christmas.  Mark your calendars!

RMRV Holiday Gifts: Slip Into Something {A Slip Shop #Review}

Clothes are my friend–my BEST friend.  I love them!  However sometimes I have a hard time find a skirt or a dress with a hemline that is right for me.  Sometimes Often times the hemline is too short.  Sometimes by 5 inches and sometimes by just an inch or two.  You know, finding that right hemline for your leg is really important.  It is the difference between having thick or thin knees or thighs or being classy or trashy.
