The whole time I was just a wife I couldn’t wait to be pregnant.  I couldn’t wait to have a bump.  I couldn’t wait to wear the clothes.  I couldn’t wait to decorate the nursery.  I couldn’t wait to go on mommy/ baby lunches with the girls.  You know…all the fun mom things!

Ever since my belly has begun to slowly grow, my clothes have started to get tighter and tighter.  I know it sounds a little crazy but growing at the waistline isn’t as mentally easy as I suspected.  I know it comes with the territory but it is a bit difficult.  When I started looking for maternity clothes once I finally found something that looked cute the price was too outrageous to swallow.  It has been quite disappointing because I was so excited to wear cute baby bump clothes.  After going to a few stores…FIVE to be precise…I was was pretty frustrated.  I thought that pants with a stretchy waistband and shirts with extra room in the front would make it easy to find something that looked decent on me.  This didn’t help me feel any better about my new body.

Kiki’s Fashions gets my pain and frustration.  They are “dedicated to bringing [their] customers today’s cute and trendy maternity clothes at low, low prices.”  Did you hear what I just told you!? Kiki’s Fashions has some SUPER cute clothes.  Plus, after you fall in love with them, you CAN swallow the price!!  Everything is so affordable.  You won’t find $80 jeans here.  $65 dresses will not be found.  Just affordable clothes that aren’t cheap maternity clothes.  There is a BIG difference between affordable and cheap.

Kiki’s Fashions sent me a pair of super sexy maternity jeans.  Didn’t think sexy could be used to describe maternity jeans did you!?  Well think again!!  They have skinny jeans, boot cut jeans, dark jeans, faded jeans, and fancy pockets.  All are under $30!!  The jeans they sent me don’t look at all like the classic “mom” maternity jeans.   They are embellished and cute.  You wouldn’t even know they are maternity jeans unless you looked at the waistband.  The waistband is nice and stretchy and very comfy.  Finally jeans that fit like that I am used to…they just fit my growing bump.

When I first found out I was pregnant I began to get excited about shopping for maternity clothes.  I had seen so many cute pregnant ladies and was thrilled to start dressing my cute bump like them.  The only problem was…I had no clue where to find stylish clothes.

All dressed up! { IZ Byer clothing review}

I love clothes! I have recently been updating my wardrobe…. albeit very s-l-o-w-l-y so the hubby doesn’t complain notice that I’ve been spending more money! :-) It’ amazing what a few staples can do to liven things up.  A new pair of skinnies, a few versatile cardies ( I LOVE fall just for cardi season!!), and then of course something to go underneath those cardies. That is where this wonderful sleeveless turtle neck top from IZ Byer comes in. They were very generous and sent me one to try out! It is super sophisiticated, but can be worn either dressed up with a skirt/trousers, or dressed down with a great pair of jeans.

I forgot to snap a picture of the back, but it has a great tie that ties, creating a super cool turtle neck look with some great detail! It looks great with a ponytail so you can see the tie!

I love how it really goes with almost anything! A pair of flats or boots would look just as great as heels! I especially love the black lace detailing. It gives it an almost menswear tuxedo-ish look but with super girly style.  The little beaded accessory also makes the look even more complete. The banded bottom is great at hiding any little bulges you may be worried about too! And it’s also machine washable, so caring for it is a cinch!

Something else that is great about this is that it can pretty much be worn year round and it a timeless addition to your wardrobe. For you daring chicks (I prefer to keep my shoulders covered and wear it with a top layered underneath and a cardi over the top) it would look stunning by itself with a skirt or jeans. The possibilities are endless!  I am LOVING this top and can’t wait to see what else I can pair with it!

Camouflage Onesie - Short Sleeve

I have quite a few friends expecting babies in the next few months! It’s like a baby boom among my girlfriends and it couldn’t be more fun for me to help celebrate all these new precious little ones! How to Stay Stylish During Pregnancy

Pregnancy can change a body in surprising ways. There are the obvious ways, such as an expanding waistline, and the less obvious, such as standing or walking differently or even going up a shoe size. Women who are used to wearing high heels may change to flat heels and even bra sizes can alter alarmingly. With all these changes going on, it is often hard to stay stylish during pregnancy, especially if work demands a certain dress code or your pregnancy is taking place in very hot or very cold weather.

Layering is the key

Like dressing a baby, layering is the key when it comes to maternity clothes. Even a short burst of exercise can increase temperature and that warm cardigan might seem too much ten minutes after leaving the house. It is also worth remembering that temperature is often a degree or two higher during pregnancy so you may be more affected by hot weather.

A Whole New World of Stretchiness

The majority of pregnant women seek comfort above all else in maternity clothes. Even pyjamas can seem tight and restrictive. Hosiery will need replacing to accommodate a growing bump, and even everyday swimwear might not stretch quite far enough.

Many companies are recognising the fact that the days of dungarees and smock dresses are long gone, never to return. Today’s expectant mother demands style and wants to feel good about herself. It is time for a new stretchy wardrobe of clothes.

The Perfect Capsule Wardrobe

Many firms now stock capsule pregnancy wardrobes in their maternity clothes range. These are ideal for casual or even workwear and usually come in only one or two colours. For example, a stretchy pair of maternity trousers in jersey with a matching top and cardigan could be an ideal mix and match outfit. A smart colour choice such as black can take an outfit to the office and back. With a cardigan that matches, layering is useful in changing temperatures and seasons

Dress It Up

Pregnancy dresses are shorter and funkier today, usually with sleeves for all year round wear. A drop waist and plain fabric can mean that whilst a bump is clearly on display, it need not be the most prominent feature. Fabric is important and knitted dresses or stretch jersey can be more comfortable than structured or tailored garments during this ever-changing and unique time in a woman’s life.

Good Foundations

Maternity clothes need good foundations. It is important to remember comfortable underwear, including bras, briefs and hosiery. Maternity leggings can free up a pair of cool bare feet to wear sandals, something that cannot be done over tights. Briefs can be over or under bump style and this is purely a personal preference. Several pairs of comfortable maternity tights in different colours will take a pregnant mother through every trimester and can be particularly comfortable post birth, when bumps do not completely disappear overnight.

The Right Jeans

The same principal applies to maternity jeans. Some women report living in their maternity jeans during and after pregnancy and the right pair can be a joy. It may be useful to try on several pairs either by mail order or by risking a busy high street store. The right pair of jeans cannot be rushed. If an expectant mother has switched from high heels to flat shoes she may find that her jeans will need taking up to account for the flatter heel height.

Round Up

Co-ordinating colour, good accessories and the confidence that comfort can give will all make for a complete wardrobe of stylish maternity clothes.

Big fashion for little girls! {Hudson Threads Review}

It is no secret that my girl and I love clothes and fashion! I love dressing her and she loves playing dress up! Lately she has developed quite an opinion as to what she wants to wear every day, especially to school. I knew this day would come, I just didn’t know how soon!! She loved looking at all the fashionable outfits at Hudson Threads!

Hudson Threads is a New York based girls brand specializing in tween clothing.  The collection prides itself on offering styles that are both fun and easy to wear.  Hudson Threads is available in sizes 4-16.

It was so much fun choosing an adorable outfit for Ava from Hudson Threads! Their fall line is darling and sophisticated; full of amazing coordinates and styles. She just “oohed” and “aahed” over the different dresses and designs; I’m pretty sure she wanted them all! We eventually narrowed down the choices and decided on the Alana Top with the Alex Skirt; pink, black, with a bit of tan…and don’t forget the sassy little ruffle accent along the edge of the skirt!  When it arrived in the mail we immediately tried it on! Perfect fit and looks amazing! The material is soft and stretchy and even though it is a dressy little outfit, Ava is still able to run and play when wearing it {and most definitely spin and dance…which is what she did the first ten minutes she wore it!}! The entire outfit is put together so well and is definitely meant to last! High quality, beautiful design, and cozy fabric is what you get with Hudson Threads! Ava has been dying to wear her new little ensemble to school, but we are still a little warm here in Texas. We actually had a day last week in the 100′s, so it is most definitely not long sleeve weather down here. It will be soon though, and I know she will be wearing her new Hudson Threads as much as she can!

Conquering Mt. Laundry {Sort-a-neat review with giveaway}

If you are like me, laundry is one of those things that gets pushed to the side…. and then pushed again, and then again. I have no problem actually washing it. It’s the folding and putting away of said mountain of clean clothes that gets pushed aside. I even tell myself that I will sit down (while my little peanut is napping) and indulge in one of my recoreded silly shows and fold. Half the time I sit down to watch and then don’t fold and put away anything! Sadly it’s not uncommon for us to go diving in the clean basket until it’s time to wash all over again… yeah… my goal is to wash AND fold as I go! Perhaps one day….

Well, I ran across something that just might be the solution, or at least a good helper in conquering the battle of clean clothes! The sort-a-neat is a sectioned laundry bag that fits pretty much any laundry basket and is sectioned so you can organize your clean clothes and keep them neatly folded! I can’t tell you how annoyed I get when the piles fall once they are in the basket and all my hard work is wasted! (Yeah.. I know… folding is a tough job but someone’s got to do it!) The sort-a-neat also has a great, roomy drawstring at the top so you can close the whole thing up once you’re done and carry it without the basket! You can pile your laundry high above the rim of your basket yet it all stays secure!  You can even carry a closed bag one handed up the stairs so you have another hand free for something else! Even better, a full bag holds it’s shape outside the basket when open for ease in putting your laundry away. This is great for people like me who have dirty laundry waiting to go back in the basket while there is clean laundry still needing to be put away!

A great idea is to have one for each of your kids, then fill their sort-a-neats with their clean clothes, then send them to their room with their bags on their shoulders and have them put their own laundry away. It is also a great idea for college kids! I can tell you, this may not solve the problem of actually getting the folding done, but definitely helps with the organizing and putting away. My neighbors have started decorating, (I am still working on getting Halloween decorations!) and the Halloween candy section is in full swing at the grocery store… yeah, I’ve already visited that aisle… more than once!  I may only have my little guy, who is turning one next week, but I love Halloween and am so excited to get him dressed up and take him out this year! One of the best things about Halloween for babies is the pictures! I was wanting something super cute that would also keep him warm this time of year! I found EXACTLY what I was looking for at Costume Discounters. My little munchkin is crazy about monkeys,  so it was awesome when I came across this cute Mischievous Monkey Costume! (It was hard getting a good shot of him… hence why the bottom is cut off! Plus I had a hard time keeping a straight face too!)

If you don’t know what you are going to do for a Halloween costume, you better get crackin’! Fortunately, at Costume Discounters, you will find a HUGE selection of costumes for everyone in the family! They have something for Mom, Dad, teens, kids and babies!  They also have fantastic prices!! I found some on clearance for as low as $7.97! What a deal! They also have almost any theme you could ever want too!  They have everything from animals, to fairy-tales to pirates to TV and movies to High School Musical to superheroes and cartoon characters… the list goes on and on!
