Happy Heart Day!! {Tiny Prints}

Maybe it is just me, but I feel like it was just yesterday that I was picking out pumpkins and costumes!!  I can hardly believe that it is almost Valentine’s Day!!  I do love the sweet little conversation hearts and have been eating them since they took the Christmas candy off the shelf!!  But the closer we get, the more I have to think about my kids class Valentine’s parties.  I have four kids…4 kids + valentines for friends = way too many frustrating hours of helping kids write valentines.  I love the holiday, but it is one that is kinda hard to prepare for.  The perfect solution is Tiny Prints!

Tiny Print’s has been in business since 2003 and not only does Valentines Greeting Cards, but they do invitations, announcements, stationary, all kinds of gift and calendars, and photo books  all personalizable!  One item that I would LOVE to have is the Day Planner.  This thing is to die for CUTE!!

I was amazed at how many Valntine’s cards Tiny Prints offers!  Almost 250 different card designs!!  There is something for every kid, every age!  I love that you can put a picture on them!!  I have so many favorites, it was hard for me to pick my very favorite, so I will share a few.  I thought it would be fun to do an all kid one, you know like for Grandma and the Fave Aunt :)   My choice for that one is Cherry on TopI love that I can put my kids picture on it, but still have a cute little Valentine’s day design on it.  Not too Girly, not too Boy-y (if that is even a real word)  I sat down with all of my kids to pick Valentine’s cards.  There were lots of ohhh’s and aww’s.  I got them to finally pick one card each.  Here are their picks:  Mia loved the Owl Love card.  April, my sweet “flower child” loved the My Garden: Bloom card.   Hailee went crazy over the  Sweet Impression: Siren card.  Austin, being the only boy, had to pick a ”tough” card, Pirates Arrrr.

Picking and customizing these Valentines has gotten me ready for the up coming holiday.  My kids are super excited to pass out their personalized cards and I very relieved that I didn’t have to fight the crowd at Walmart as we all pick through the same ol same cards as every other kid in the class will have.  This year my kids will have something different and fun to share with their friends!!  OOOOOO!  I can’t WAIT!!  Real Mom (and her little sweethearts) Approved!

The Sifter, Sorter, Store-er {Box4Blox Review}

My little guy, Austin, is a Lego fanatic!  He loves to create according to the directions and make his creation look just like the picture, but he also likes to create on his own.  He loves all of the different sizes and colors.  He will sit in his room for hours creating something amazing.  I love the fact that he uses his imagination and his brain as he works on his masterpieces.  What I don’t love (or even like) is the huge mess that comes with building with Legos.  There are so many little pieces that get dropped, lost, or just plain dumped out.  Problem solved!! Box4Blox!

This 10 1/4″ inch cube is made of the same plastic that Lego uses for its pieces, so it is super high quality!  Austin loves the bright colors and thought the “sifting” part of the boxes were “super cool.”  I agree with my 8 year old 100% percent (for once:))  Our Lego storage has been and issue for a while now.  We have tried saving the boxes they come in only to have them fall apart and we ended up losing Legos out of the bottom of the boxes.  We tried plastic container- we ended up having Legos all over the floor while the search went on for the smaller Legos hiding in the bottom and corners of that box.  The Box4Blox has perfect sorting trays so all of the smaller blocks fall through leaving the largest on the top getting smaller and smaller with each tray.  I do wish the box had some way of clicking together or having a carrying handle, but after reading up on the product, I found out why there isn’t one.  Due to the fact that the Box4Blox can hold up to about 1600 legos, there is a weight issue.  With that many Legos, the box can get heavy and the best way to carry it is from the bottom for the most support.  They did say you will only pick it up wrong once :) Make sure you watch the YouTube video of the Box4Blox, it gives you a better idea of how genius this is!!  One of my favorite parts of the Box4Blox is that is made in the USA!  I also love that it was invented by a couple who had one too many spills of Legos and Ta-Da!!  The Box4Blox was born!   This is the perfect addition to any child’s Lego collection!  No wonder it was voted New Home Organizing Product of the Year!  It would make an incredible gift…any mom would thank you over and over!  The Box4Blox deserves my two thumbs way up, and they get Austins two thumbs even higher up….and my vacuum thanks you, too!!  REAL MOM APPROVED!!

Making School Uniforms Look Good! {French Toast Review and Giveaway}

Just over 3 years ago, I enrolled my kids in a Charter school.  Hailee was in 2nd grade and April and Austin were in kindergarten.  There were so many aspects to this school that I was super excited about, it was brand new, had leveled learning, and had a school uniform.  There were a few things that Hailee was not looking forward to, leaving her old school, leaving her friends and wearing a school uniform.  What was a major plus for me was not a major plus for her. Since she had been in a “regular” school for a couple of years, she was used to wearing whatever she wanted to school and knew that it was going to be quite and adjustment for this little fashionista to wear practically the same thing to school every day.  When I heard about French Toast, I immediately placed my order! We live in a small-er town and pretty much our only shopping is Walmart, or we drive 45 minutes to the nearest mall. Therefore, I love me some online shoppin!!  This is a picture of one the first uniforms we got from French Toast (3 years ago).  I fell in love with French Toast from the moment my first package came in the mail.  I was super impressed with the quality of every item we got!  My kids wear polo style shirts everyday.  If you have ever gotten the Walmart ones, you would know that after a few wears, they have a hard time coming clean.  Our French Toast ones were not only CHEAPER then the Walmart ones, but a much better quality.  They wash/wear really nice!   My kids have been wearing the French Toast brand for the last 3 years and besides out growing their clothes, there hasn’t been a single issue with them :)

When I got the opportunity to review French Toast, I jumped on it!  I was super excited to try their sweaters!  We have ordered pants, skirts, shorts and polo’s in the past….just never a sweater!  This year, the school went SUPER strict of dress code and said they could only wear navy sweaters, where in the past they had been able to wear navy, white or yellow.  Have you ever looked for a CUTE navy sweater with nothing on it?!  Not all that easy to find…unless you are on French Toast!  Hailee, my needs to look “super” cute everyday girl, got the Cable Front Cardigan.  April needs to be comfy (and cute) so she went with the Pom-Pom Zip Up Sweater. Austin, he could careless.  He is going to wear the first thing hanging in his closet, so I picked the Zip Front Sweater for him.  In less then a week, I had sweaters being delivered to my house.  All three were thrilled…even Austin!  They love wearing them, not only because they are super cute, but they are comfy and warm.  We are in Utah, and things get COLD here, so that is a big deal!  Another big deal (according to Hailee) is that she can’t have the same clothes as everyone else.  French Toast has SO many different items that you are sure to get something that is perfect for your kids that will make them stand out…as much as you can stand out in a uniform.  I am all for my kids wearing a uniform, but I do want them to be themselves.  When we shop at French toast, they can pick things that still fall into the uniform category, but show a little bit of personality as well.

French Toast Official School Wear™ is America’s leading brand of school uniform. Since 1958, our company has provided families with quality children’s wear and boys and girls school uniforms at great prices. Our selection of uniform styles and sizes is second to none, from toddler size uniforms through young adult, French Toast carries over 6,000 individual colors, styles and sizes in stock, all year round!”

French Toast has an incredible online store where you can find everything you need to send your kids off to school.  They also have a catalog and do sell in stores as well!   If you are looking for uniforms that will hold up in the wash, hold up at school, and stand the test of comfort…French Toast is the place to shop!  Real Mom Approved!!

When it comes to birthday presents, I really love to give something that has meaning. Depending on the person, that can be super hard… Dad!! I mean after all, kids like just about anything right? Depending on the toy, that may or may not hold true!

I recently came across something I am giving my little guy for his 2nd birthday. Now that is still not for many months still, but I am SO excited!! He LOVE LOVE LOVES books. Spin, Twirl, and Dance The Day Away {Angelina Ballerina: Sweet Valentine DVD Review}

Mia is my youngest, therefore we have all kinds of little girls dress up clothes and left over dance costumes.  They have made their way to a bucket in one of the girls bedrooms.  Occasionally, a friend will come over to play with Mia and the clean bedroom turns into a dressing room complete with tiaras and feather boas.  They  try on outfit after outfit, but always end up in a ballerina dress.  There is something “magical” about a ballerina.  They are beautiful and graceful…two things that little girls want to be.  When you take a beautiful ballerina and turn her into a sweet little mouse, you have Angelina Ballerina.  She is the star of her newest DVD called Angelina Balleria: Sweet Valentine.

“Love and friendship take center stage in these sweet stories. Angelina uncovers the mystery of her secret admirer with some help from her friends. Angelina and Alice help Marco realize the true importance of helping his friends. The students celebrate Ms. Mimi, and although it may have been for the wrong reason, they do it with a lot of heart! And when Angelina and her girlfriends try to make a girls’ club, they realize a friendship club is much sweeter. Spread the love with dancing, skating, singing and best friends forever!”

When I asked Mia what was her favorite part of the DVD she replied with “every time they dance at the school.”  She sat and didn’t move as she watched all 5 episodes on the DVD.  She thinks Angelina has a funny voice, too :)   She liked it so much, she took it to a friends house and insted of the two girls playing, they got dressed up in their ballet dresses and watched and danced with Angelina and her friends.  Angelina is such a sweet little mouse and all of her shows are so sweet and nice.  I have so many not-so-nice shows that my kids want to watch, that this is one that I love to have on!  REAL MOM APPROVED!

The Ultimate Fun Board! {Spooner Boards Review & Giveaway}

Spooner Boards look like loads of fun! I saw them before the holidays online and knew they would be a hit with my two children! Spooner Boards facilitate a wide variety of activities and can be used indoors or outdoors! Perfect for all seasons, interests, and ages! Truly the board created for everyone!

Using the Spooner Board, riders of all abilities can pretend they are catching a wave, riding the slopes, or burning up the asphalt without leaving the comfort of the family room. Designed for beginners, kids starting at age 3 can simulate spins, twists, slides, wobbles, and more, while getting a workout, stabilizing their core and improving their balance and coordination. The Spooner is becoming increasingly popular with school physical education departments because of the fun and safe, high-quality workout it provides and its virtually indestructible construction. Comes in seven seriously cool colors: blue, red, green, purple, orange, yellow, black.

Spooner Boards encapsulate a variable mass of definitions of fun, health, recreation, and innovative design. Unlike traditional skateboards, which require large spaces, or snowboards which require winter conditions, the Spooner Board allows kids and adults to practice all the techniques of both sports in a space no larger than a 4-foot cubicle. Spooner Boards break the boundaries of limitations! No matter weather conditions, environment, or location, you can use a Spooner Board! Even on the snow for sledding and boarding. The Spooner is guaranteed for life! If your Spooner Board ever breaks, it will be replaced. Spooner Boards have no weight limit and come in 2 different sizes, making them a perfect toy for the entire family. Spooner Boards are widely used in physical education departments and are great exercise. As children are playing they are improving core strength, coordination, and gross motor skills. Parents and teachers can rest easy knowing the boards were designed with child and floor safety in mind. Spooner Boards are made in the USA and are safe for all ages 3 and up. The smaller of the 2 boards is the 24” Freestyle Spooner Board. The Freestyle Board is great for boarders under 4 feet tall, but can be used by taller riders too. The larger board is the 28” Pro Model Spooner Board. The Pro Model Board is great for boarders over 4 feet tall, but safe for all ages. Watch the videos to see kids of all age’s free styling on The Spooner!

The kids were so excited when our Spooner Boards arrived and couldn’t wait to try them out! Spooner Boards generously sent us two boards; the 24″ Freestyle and the 28″ Pro Model. I opened up the blue 24″ Freestyle Spooner Board first. It seems a bit more age appropriate for my littles as it is a bit shorter than the Pro Model making it more manageable for smaller children. It quickly became a favorite of both kids, especially Hollis. He is constantly standing on it, rocking on it, sitting on it, spinning, and  pretending he’s on a skateboard! It’s amazing to me how many different ways he has found to use it all on his own, offering tons of entertainment and keeping him active! We can play with the Spooner Board indoors as well as outdoors as it can be used on any surface! It is very easy to transport from one place to another and even Hollis can easily carry it around! Even I enjoy playing on the Spooner Board!  The Spooner Board is great fun and also offers a great exercise opportunity! When children are playing on their spooner board they are working all sorts of muscles and developing their gross motor skills! In an age where technology is a major source of entertainment for children, I love that Spooner Boards has created such a great toy for children of all ages; getting them outdoors and active!

The World Is As Big As Your Imagination {Phaidon Press children’s books review}

I love to read! As a kid I remember some of my favorite books and looked forward to reading them over and over. I think (hopefully!) that my little munchkin may have the same love for books! He may be only 15 months, but he LOVES books! He spends loads of time everyday looking through his collection, meticulously flipping each page and looking at the pictures. It really melts my heart when he actually brings me the book and wants to crawl up into my lap so I can read it to him! We also love our story time every night before bed and have to have at least 3 or more stories before bed.  (I could probably get away with only one or two but I LOVE reading to him!!) We recently had the chance to add to our library. Phaidon Press was very generous and sent us some of their new releases in their fabulous children’s collection. I have to say I am very impressed by the creativity and especially the illustrations in the books! We received some for older children as well as younger ones, so I have only been able to read the younger ones to my little guy so far. We especially loved “Bugs in the Garden,”  by Beatrice Alemagna, which had illustrations using felt board characters, and also “What color is your world?”, by Bob Gill, which has very creative ideas for teaching kids about colors and what they relate to. I can’t wait for my little guy to get older so we can explore the other books we received! Thanks Phaidon Press!! A couple of the other gals had the same opportunity to try out the books as well. Here’s what they had to say.

“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales” ~ Albert Einstein
I believe Albert Einstein was most definitely on to something when he said this, only I believe he could have said, “If you want your children to be intelligent, read to them.” Fairy tales, nursery rhymes, fiction, biographies, a cereal box…just read to them. Phaidon Books sent our family several of their children’s titles to read and add to our ever growing library! My children love books and the time we spend together reading them! They were overjoyed with the lot of books they received from Phaidon Books! I mean, really, they spoiled them rotten and we were all so excited! Hollis’ favorite of the bunch is What Colour is your World? By Bob Gill. It is a fun book with whimsical illustrations that is a cute read and can be used to teach colors and even color words to children! Hollis loves sitting in my lap looking at the pages and naming the colors and objects he sees! We also received the Mellops series by Tomi Ungerer including The Mellops go Diving for Treasure, The Mellops Strike Oil, and Christmas Eve at the Mellops’. Ava loves this series and has requested them many nights for her bedtime story. They keep her interested and she loves listening to the story and asking lots of questions throughout! We have had the most fun with Doodle Cook, by Herve Tullet! Ava loves sitting with me and following the instructions as I read them to her! We do a few pages at a time or until she is through! It is so cute to see what she creates on each page, and she really has created a few masterpieces! I’m sure Mr. Tullet would be proud! Phaidon has a children’s book line is full of great titles, all containing great stories and unique illustrations! We love the books we received and look forward to more time reading together!

Amanda

We love books! My kids love to read, and it has always been something (as a mom) that has been important to me for my children.  The books we received from Phaidon Press were perfect for my kids! They ranged from “Nicholas” which is a great chapter book for older kids to “Bugs in the Garden” which is a sweet little book for younger children.   The ones that I have read with Mia have been darling.  She loved all of the pictures and thought What Color is Your World was silly.  I think our very favorite book was Doodle Cook, which is an interactive book where you help create the dish according to the recipe.  There are all kinds of fun directions which leads to a delightful picture on the page that your child created!  April absolutely loved that book!  Hailee and Austin are reading Nicholas and think Nichlas is funny and naughty, but do occasionally come to me with a question (they get confused on a few words since it is a English)  All in all, we were more then thrilled with the selection of book Phaidon Press.  Everyone of them was wonderful!  We loved everyone of them!!

Erin

Be sure to check out the other titles in the children’s collection available through Phaidon’s website!! You won’t be disappointed! These children’s books come REAL Mom Recommended and I’m so excited to continue the adventures of reading with my little guy!

Cop in a Box {Megablock review}

There are a few things that the boys inmy house LOVE…#1 Police #2 Building Blocks.  So as you can imagaine, the Megablok Police Force Pursuit was the perfect fit!  Austin is my “builder”. He loves to look at the guide/instructions that come with each kit and follow them piece by piece.  He is always more then thrilled once his little work of art is complete.

“All missions are possible when you team up with the three Patrol vehicles of the Blok Squad Police Force Pursuit! Build the Police Cruiser SUV – a top-of-the-line patrol vehicle with excellent control and zoom through the streets with your Blok Squad Police Officer! Construct the Police Force Carrier – a quick response Patrol truck designed to help transport Police Officers to the scene of an emergency and transport captured bad guys to jail!  Assemble the Police Boat – a harbor cruiser captained by your Blok Squad Naval Police Officer. It is designed with high-performance engines and advanced radio equipment to help catch fleeing fugitives on the water!
Band together with all three Patrol vehicles to secure a major accident site, lock down a crime scene or find a missing person!”

Since the moment this fun set arrived at our house, it has been played with over and over.  Building it is only half of the fun.  Once it it buit, it opens a whole new world of fun to your little kiddos.   Megabloks don’t only have Police, but they have Firemen, and construction workers, too…but that is just the beginging.  They have a ton of differant products ranging from Hello Kitty to Iron Man and the big huge blocks perfect for the little ones.

Happiness is…..{Happiness is Peanuts: Friends Forever DVD Review}

Who doesn’t love a good ‘ol Charlie Brown every now and again?!  My kids have fallen in love with Charlie, Schroeder, Linus, Lucy, and of course Snoopy!  Every holiday we look forward to seeing the Charlie Brown Special on TV!  They laugh at how mean Lucy is to poor Charlie while they play football and how silly Snoopy is on his dog house.  They love how the teacher talks, and I occasionally will get a” Whaa-whaa-waaa” when I ask them to do something :)

“Charlie Brown has his heart set on meeting the Little Red-Haired Girl on You’re in Love, Charlie Brown, the 1968 Emmy® nominated television special. School is about to let out for summer but all Charlie Brown can think of is how to meet the Little Red-Haired Girl. All his attempts end in embarrassments. He writes her a love note but winds up accidentally reading it out loud to his class. When she tries to approach him during the lunch break, he panics and pulls his lunch bag over his head. He gets up really early one morning in hopes of catching her at her bus stop but winds up falling asleep and misses the bus. Will it be a summer of heartbreak for Charlie Brown or will he manage to connect with the Little Red-Haired Girl before school lets out?

 Happiness is…Peanuts™: Friends Forever, also includes an episode from The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, featuring skits based on Peanuts strips created by Charles M. Schulz.

 Kite Eating Tree – Charlie Brown visits Lucy’s psychiatry booth for advice on fighting the kite-eating tree.

 Sally – Pretending to be a WWI Flying Ace, Snoopy steals Sally’s report for school.

 Camp – Charlie Brown is sent home from camp for being a “troublemaker.” Peppermint Patty tells Linus that she cried when she saw him kiss the Little-Red Haired girl.

“With Valentine’s Day approaching, Happiness is…Peanuts™: Friends Forever is the perfect title to share with both kids and adults, there’s something in it for everyone,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, WHV Executive Marketing Director of Family & Animation Franchise. She added, “Although most everyone can relate to Charlie Brown and his unrequited love for the Little Red-Haired Girl, Happiness is…Peanuts™: Friends Forever reminds us that love comes in many forms. From the fondness and affection we have for our friends to the bond we share with family, it’s something to be celebrated and cherished.”

There is no better way to tell your kids that you love them then sending them a Valentine with Snoopy on it!!  Find your “Happiness,” sit back, snuggle in with your kids and enjoy some Peanuts!
