Keepin’ It Clean {Lollibar Review & Giveaway}

One thing that is in my baby-supply-buying near future is a stroller and car seat. Can you believe I am 36 1/2 weeks and don’t have those yet? OOPS! I have shopped though and know just what I want.

Gonna Make You Sweat! {Dance Dance Revolution II}

About 11 years ago, my hubby and I were at a “fun center” in California. While waiting to play mini golf, we got our first peek at the hot new game Dance Dance Revolution. There was a 30 something man shaking it like nobody’s business. He was completely drenched in sweat…enough so that he had brought his own towel with him. Standing behind the sweaty man dancing was a line of people waiting to play. 11 years later….a few things change. We weren’t in California, we were in my basement. It wasn’t a sweaty man dancing, it was my 10 year old daughter…no, she didn’t have her sweat drenched towel with her. One thing that was the same was that there was a line. My kids and neighbor kids lined up in the basement to take their turn shaking it down on Dance Dance Revolution II for the Wii.

The game is super easy to set up. Pop the game in the Wii and plug the dance mat in a wha-la! Ready to dance! The game was perfect for all of my children…Mia (my 4 year old) struggled a little bit. The easy mode is really easy….easy enough that even I could do it. The hard is exactly that, VERY hard. The amount of steps you are supposed to do and all at the same time?! I would be that crazy, sweaty, thirty something if I even attempted that! The graphics are great, the characters are fun but the music is the best! Some of my favorites are Whip Your Hair, Just the Way You Are, and you can’t leave out The Spice Girls. My girls loved that Selena Gomez and Justin Beber were on there, too. There are over 80 fun songs to dance to!!

Not only was it a super fun night to spend with my kids, but it kept them up and moving. We didn’t sit in front of the TV for hours playing games, we stood in front of it increasing our heart rate and getting some great exercise. This is a fantastic game to get you up and moving! Diggin’ In the Dirt {Cat Preschool Bump & Go Dump Truck review}

Summer is almost here!! While we still are having a few blistery days, I feel that the heat is just right around the corner. We are getting the umbrella ready, I stocked up on 3 different kinds of sunscreens for my little guy, and the sandbox is out, loaded and ready to go! We are ready for summer! We were recently given the opportunity to add to toy collection! Toy State, makers of CAT Preschool machines, generously sent us one of their Bump & Go dump trucks (age 2+) to try out!

My kiddo LOVES trucks! Whenever he hears one go by outside, he points to the door and makes a “roaring noise,” like their engines!! This was the perfect toy for him! It is battery operated, (3 AAA which are included). You push a button on the top off the truck and off it goes. When it bumps into something, it stops, reverses, and heads in the other direction. The dump is fully functional too, so my tot can load up his blocks, or bear, or who ever needs to go for a ride at the moment! It is also GREAT outside in the sand… Hello! It is a CAT machine!!

I am expecting hours of fun loading up sand in the dump, driving across the sand, then dumping! It is great because it can be used inside or out, depending on how adventurous your little one is. And with summer right around the corner, what better addition to the collection than a cool truck that goes, has a mind of its own, but is still safe for little ones! It would also make a great gift if you need something for upcoming birthday parties! We LOVE our CAT Bump & Go! Thanks Toy State! Fun Children’s Literature {One Day I Went Rambling Book Review}

I am a reader. I feel that I am passing this love onto my children. They see me reading books, they read books with me, they want to read me books; it’s all fun and truly quality time. When we find a great book we all get excited and can read it over and over again together. One Day I Went Rambling, by Kelly Bennett & Illustrated by Terri Murphy is definitely one of those read over and over again books that we have been enjoying together!

When Zane goes rambling, his friends call him crazy and refuse to play along. When he finds a shining star, it doesn’t bother him when his friends try to tell him it’s just a hubcap. Undaunted, Zane uses his finds to create a secret project that piques his friends’ curiosity. After watching him ramble around the neighborhood, finding magic in the ordinary, his friends are eventually drawn into his imaginative game. Through the book’s art, attentive readers will see that Zane is using his finds to create a pirate ship, and once his friends realize what he’s up to, even the most skeptical realists join the fun and sail the afternoon away. Zane’s imagination sees the cowpoke’s lasso in a piece of vine, the pirate’s golden ring in an old pop top, and many other treasures that have been stolen from today’s children by electronic entertainment. Rambling enforces the joy of imaginative play.

Ava loves the book One Day I Went Rambling! As soon as she saw the colorful artwork on the cover she was hooked and wanted to know what it was all about! She loves reading and so a new book is like Christmas morning to her. She sat intently listening to this story, asking questions along the way. When we reached the end, she immediately asked for me to read it to her again. Zane is a truly loveable character with a huge imagination and strong spirit, much like my Ava. He marches to the beat of his own drum and gets all of his friends marching and having fun right along with him on his imaginative journeys; finding interesting odds and ends, then creating stories about them. Not only is this book a great read, but can also be turned into a fun game you can play with your children. We have played the Rambling game several times outside and even inside on rainy days! This story is wonderful and the illustrations are outstanding. One Day I Went Rambling is definitely a must have for your children’s library!

Learning Together {Because Your Mommy Loves You review & giveaway}

There is nothing like the love between a mother and her son. As a mother of a son, I can personally attest to it… although I’m pretty sure it’s probably similar for daughters too! My little guy and I love reading together. I’ve been reading to him since he was only a couple months old, and I’m very happy that he has a great love for books, even at only 19 months. I do my very best to always stop what I’m doing when he brings me a book to read, and of course there are plenty of stories before bed too!

We were recently generously given the opportunity to add to our collection with a new title from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, “Becuase your Mommy loves you.” This is a new companion book to “Because Your Daddy Loves You”.

When a little boy and his mom go camping, mini-disasters abound, and there are
lots of opportunities for Mom to step in and fix everything. But instead, with a loving
touch, this mommy shows her child ways to do things for himself, going far to encourage
her child’s independence. And there is still plenty of opportunity for snuggling
under the stars.
This warm and humorous testament to all the loving things a supportive mom does
each day is every bit as heartwarming as its predecessor and is sure to become a favorite
for families everywhere.

This is the sweetest little book! I loved the simple story line, so even youngsters like my little guy understand it! The adventures the little boy gets into are just what any little boy might encounter in the woods, so it would be a great addition for someone who loves being outside. Also, going into summer and camping season, what better way to teach your children about being independent than with a great book about hiking and camping adventures?! The illustrations are so clever too! They really bring the story to life and are funny too! There’s even a picture where, after the mommy helps her son make the perfect mashmallow roasting stick, hers breaks and falls off into the fire!! I am so looking forward to when my little guy can actually understand the adventures the book tells about, so that we can go on our own hiking and camping trip and be like the boy and his mommy! As soon as the JumpSport iBounce Kids Trampoline arrived, both of my kiddos were intrigued! They were so excited for me to get it all put together so they could start their hippity hopping! I decided it was a great day for it as it was rainy out and we were going to be stuck inside all day! Bravely, I pulled out all the pieces, made sure I had everything and got started; with two little helpers. Now, I am not great at assembling things and usually leave that up to my husband, but I really wanted to see if I could put this together. I was impressed with the sturdiness of the trampoline and felt totally comfortable putting it together. The instructions were clear and it all came together pretty simply, although it did take me quite a while. But, like I said, I rarely do these types of projects and was really proud of myself for getting it all completed, especially with my two “helpers”. When I saw the smiles across my children’s faces I knew it was time well spent and they were ready to try out their new trampoline. We popped in their Hop-A-Long with Rompy Roo DVD and they started jumping along with this adorable kangaroo. The DVD is a great add on to the trampoline! The kids go with Rompy Roo on an adventure. Along the adventure they do several different exercises, and the count them out. It is totally interactive, educational, and fun! I was pleasantly surprised with the mega bounce of this trampoline! The combination of the padded handles and the bungee cords really give it a good spring. My two love the DVD, they love the trampoline

and jump all day long; it’s the first thing they do in the morning. It has been days and they are still jumping constantly! I love it; no more bouncing off the walls, they are bouncing on their iBounce Kid’s Trampoline. Yay! This trampoline even has a cool tablet mount you can put on the handlebar of the trampoline. We don’t have a tablet {yet}, so I left it off. I am setting it in a safe place as I’m sure we’ll be getting one sometime soon and we can put the mount to good use. Open The Hanger For The Airplane! {Oogaa Review}

When planning for a baby often times you and your baby shower attendees think about what you are going to need right away. It isn’t very often that you or others think about a few months down the road. Luckily for me I have three sisters and a mother who give me plenty of advice for later down the road. I mean I already have a winter coat for my baby yet I haven’t bought one package of diapers. ha ha OOPS!

One part of the baby’s life that, I am sure, comes faster than imagined is when baby starts to eat cereal and other baby foods. Did you know that you can start introducing solids when the baby is 4 months old? That is quick! See, these are things I haven’t learned yet. I have only gotten to the week 35 chapter of my baby books.

I think it will be so fun to use these products with our baby boy. I can just here it now “Here come the train. CHOO! CHOO!” Maybe my hubby will have so much fun with these too that he will want to take over mealtime. WHAT!? A wife can dream can’t she?

A New Friend…in a Box (Chatman Review)

Let’s just get this out there….I shelter my kids from technology. I don’t love letting them “surf the web” (does anyone say that anymore??) They are NOT aloud on YouTube, Facebook, or many other sites. I guess I want to keep them innocent as long as I possibly can. So, kids wanna chat it up and mom is kinda if-y on the whole chatting issue?? SOLUTION! Chatman!

This little yellow ball of fun is fantastic! My kids have loved plugging him into the computer and off they go. You can access all kinds of things from the Chatman site. Ask a question…he’ll answer or point you in the right direction to help you find the answer. There are all kinds of cool links that help kids research the question they are asking. I love his funny little LED mouth. He can talk, smile, pout, laugh and show just about any other emotion you can think of.

We had a pretty hard time setting him up because we don’t have a disk drive on the laptop, so we had to download off the website…sounds easy, right…hummmm. An hour or so later, we were all hooked up and ready to go. Now all we have to do it make sure the USB plug is in and the computer is on and whalla! At first I didn’t realize all he could do. I thought you could only sit and chat with him and I didn’t think that was all that cool, but you really keep him plugged in all the time and use him for everything. He can give hints on subjects you are searching for, give alerts of inappropriate content (LOVE that feature!), or teach you some fun games to play. Now that I have seen all of the things Chatman can do, I am extremely impressed and feel much safer with my kids roaming the internet. Don’t get me wrong, they still don’t have free reign to go where they want, after all, nothing replaces a mom!! Real Mom Approved!!
