Celebrating at the Kid’s Table {santa’s little helpers 2013}

Shindigz is helping set my “Kid’s Table” this Christmas with their fantastic party products.  I selected a few basic items like clear plastic plates, coffee cups and a white table cloth to get me started.  Then I picked some fun products like hanging snowflake decor, silver bells, glitter paper chargers and red polka dot washi tape for embellishing and creating my signature touch.

_DSC2698 I love a party!  Really, I’m not much of a party girl, but I LOVE to decorate and host the party ;).  As my guests arrive and smile when they see their set table, I feel satisfied giddiness inside and can’t wait to do it all over again.  Whether birthday, school, or holiday; parties bring people together in a joyful atmosphere and create precious memories.  Getting to be a party-giver makes my job as mom even more enriching.

So, on to my table…..

I’m using a small square table from my art room which is perfect for the 4 kiddos at our family gathering.  First I folded the White Rectangular Polyester Tablecloth (a bargain at $9.99) in half to cover my table.  This 60W x 126 L tablecloth will get a lot of use in the future; easy to clean (hello, bleach pen) and a neutral backdrop for any color scheme.  Shindigz carries tablecloths in a bunch of other colors, too.  Next I added these Adorable Silver Glitter Border Placemats (pkg. 8 for $8.99).  My favorite find!  If you use chargers, you know that storage can be a pain, especially if you only use them a small portion of the year.   These 14″ paper versions are disposable or re-usable, made of thin yet durable cardstock, and won’t take up precious storage space.  They add a little sparkle to my preppy winter white theme.

Time to add the plates.  Aiming for something unique, I chose clear plates that I could embellish with scrapbook paper to bring in a hint of color and customization against white.  Since I wanted something different than traditional red and green, I looked for paper with cheerful colors; opting for a chevron in red, teal, pink, purple and white.  First I traced the bottom of the plate onto the paper and cut in out, next drew on block letters representing the initial of each guest and finally added glue and ruby glitter to the letter.  By simply using spray adhesive (or just setting it underneath the plate and adding a glue dot, you can afix the paper to the underside of the plate.  Think of the world of possibilities!  So Cute!!

PicMonkey Collage1 I wasn’t done customizing yet…..I took Clear Coffee Cups (pkg. of 10 for $4.99) and added Red Swiss Dot Washi Tape around the rim.  An extremely simple activity my youngest daughter helped with.  We think it gave the cute shaped cup an extra bit of charm.  We’ll serve cocoa in them at our get together with polka dotted straws we picked up at the craft store.

Utensils were the last on the table.  We wrapped forks in red napkins and placed a silver bell bracelet (a.k.a napkin ring) around them.  Another simple craft.  I took some aluminum craft wire found on the floral aisle of the craft store and hammered it flat, then threaded Silver Bells onto.  I finished the ends by curling them to make sure it was comfortable to wear and not pokey.  Guests can take these home as a favor.

PicMonkey Collage2 For centerpiece decoration, I placed a set of silver glitter trees I found for ten bucks! with a bottle of sparkling cider, which my daughters, niece and nephew love to drink at holiday time.  The cider bottle is topped with a sweet miniature tree topper I found accented with my colors.

My finishing touch was to hang Snowflake Ceiling Danglers over the table.  These came 6 strands in a pack and were a generous 7′ per strand which more than adequately reached from my 10′ ceiling to the top of my table.  I trimmed a few of them by a snowflake or two so they wouldn’t be in the way of guests heads.  They add a fun three dimensional quality and will hopefully make the kids feel they’re in a winter wonderland…..even in Texas where we don’t see too many white Christmases (although we got 3+ inches of ice last night and it’s white outside as I’m writing this!!).
