Berry Licious

Fruit is a staple food for me and my family.  My daughters and I crave blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries……love watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, peaches, oranges……all of it!  Since summer is here, I know there will be a bunch of fruit salad in my future!  During the winter months though, when wholesome berries aren’t in season here, I turn to frozen varieties.  Wyman’s of Maine offers the best fruit, selected from their own fields and family farms around the world, perfectly picked at harvest when flavor is at its peak.

Wyman’s sent me a few coupons to purchase their delicious fruits.  I did have to venture to my local whole food grocery store to find them, as the generic box stores didn’t carry them in my area.  I was pleasantly pleased with the affordable price for such great quality. Each regular bag ranged from $2.99-$3.99, with larger bags available. There was a great selection, so I chose strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and mango…..the makings for a yummy smoothy!  Next time, I think I’ll purchase the mixed bag of blueberries, strawberries and mango!Although fresh fruit is great, I prefer to use frozen fruit in my smoothies.  This prevents having to use ice, which waters down the flavors.  Simple is best in my opinion, when you have a good product, so I added about 1/2 cup of each of my varieties, included a couple tablespoons of wildflower honey and blended.  Delicious!  Even in its frozen state, Wyman’s of Maine’s berries looked perfect in shape and color.  Next time you purchase frozen fruits, give Wyman’s a try. My hubby has added the blueberries to his saturday morning pancakes, and I just purchased ingredients to make angel food cake which will be perfect with a fruit puree topping of blended berries, so, it’s probably time for me to restock my freezer!  Looking for some yummy recipes??, visit Wyman’s online for a slew.
