My girls love pretend play…it’s so cute to watch them come up with their own things as well as mimic what they see around them. I knew they’d love the Melissa & Doug Play Food set from Pretend Play Kitchens, who carries pretend kitchens and other fun play kitchen accessories. They were so excited to see all the little fruits, breads, meats and more in their play food set. It came in four little crates to help them sort all the food groups…it had never dawned on me to teach them about this! They were really interested and at the 
dinner table, they would talk about it as well. In addition, they discovered foods that don’t appear often in children’s learning tools, such as garlic. They came to me holding their wooden bulb of garlic and asked what it was, and I was able to show them a real bulb and talk about it with them.
Not only has the Melissa & Doug Play Food set taught them about foods, but it’s also fueled their imaginations. They love making “dinner” for their dolls and toys as well as for Dada, Mama, and all other visitors! They love stacking foods together to make a sandwich, just like they eat for real. Who knows what else these cute little toys can do!
