Go Back to the Future in Clean Clothes {Bersica Futurewear Giveaway} CLOSED

Bersica_LogoI know that stains come with toddler territory and it doesn’t bother me too much. That being said, I’d rather spend my spare time cuddling with my girls than scrubbing their shirts!

Bersica Futurewear is a line of high-tech clothing for children with a NanoSphere finish which allows their clothing to repel water and dirt. Mimicking the non-stick surface of plants and insects, NanoSphere technology gives their clothing a natural self-cleaning ability.

Okay nerds, gather ‘round…here’s how NanoSphere-finished fabric works (hey why am I the only one standing here? Oh wait, here comes my dad.):

In the “classic” surface of regular fabrics (above left), the water droplet comes in full-contact with the surface, and therefore adheres to the fabric. But with NanoSphere fabric (above right), the water droplet sits just on top of the peaks of the nano particles, so it’s not absorbed into the fabric and can roll right off. Thus, Bersica Futurewear repels water, oil, dirt and liquids – whatever your kids get into.

And in case you’re wondering…NanoSphere-treated fabric does not contain any harmful chemicals, and even protects against UV rays. Yet it is a very breathable fabric. In addition, Bersica Futurewear follows standards to ensure the production of their clothing does not contribute substances to the environment that could harm us or the world around us.

Bersica_BabyGirlPolo Bersica sent us their Baby Girl Polo Shirts and Pants for us to try out. I was happy to see that the pinks were two pretty shades – the shirt was a blush pink, while the pants were a nice salmon pink. That day I made the messiest of messy foods – spaghetti. I let my girls slurp to their heart’s content so that there was maximum splatterage. When they were done, I used a little bit of water to Bersica_BabyGirlPantrinse off the sauce, and yep it came right off! I put their shirts back on them soon after that! Then come laundry day, I followed the washing instructions (machine wash warm/cold, hang dry – I’m the least domestic of  domestic divas out there, so if it’s not a pain for me, it shouldn’t be a pain for anyone else!). Surprisingly, our Bersica Futurewear shirts and pants dried really quickly, and the fabric remained very soft. I can see them wearing Bersica Futurewear to the playground too…imagine not worrying about them sliding down the slide and landing in mud…isn’t that what being a kid is all about?

Bersica Futurewear comes in polo shirts and pants for baby girls and boys (12-18 months to 3 years), and polo shirts and shorts for bigger girls and boys (4 to 12 years). And in March 2010, their new Spring line will support animal and plant conservation projects around the world. They have partnered with the Houston Zoo to create a fun and educational line, with different animals on each style to encourage kids to make changes and save our planet!
